Co Culture Communication: a land-based, Indigenous approach to anti-oppressive strategy, cross-cultural communication and relational design.
“To heal symptoms of oppression, you need to first understand systems of oppression and how they manifest internally, relationally and structurally”
Co Culture offers therapeutic support and personal and professional development to individuals, organisations and communities who are committed to anti-oppressive inclusive practice. Whether you are a person with a mixed-marginalised experience looking to engage in therapeutic work, or a practitioner seeking to develop your awareness of power dynamics, Co Culture offers relational, strength-based care that is always focused toward personal, relational and structural transformation.
“Rather than imposing colonial processes into liberatory pursuits, we need Indigenous solutions to colonial problems. Commitment to a liberatory future requires expanding beyond the limitations of the colonial paradigm and embracing collaborative, humanising processes.”
Our work is conducted on what always was and always will be Aboriginal land — the Countries of the Watharaung, Wurrundjeri and Boon Wurrung Peoples of the Kulin Nations. Our work is committed to justice for all people and centres the sovereignty of First Nations people, knowledge systems and practices. Our approach is firmly rooted in an Indigenous worldview, one dedicated to responsibility, reciprocity, respect and reverence toward land, ancestors, descendants and the sacred connections between all living beings. Tulou ki te mamalu o te fenua tenei mo te Tagata Fenua.
